Sentence rewrites can be a pivotal addition to editing. It can reduce time-consuming edits in manuscripts where there is repetition, weak words, crutches, poor sentence variety, and echo words. It can also broach subjects such as slightly underdeveloped worlds and characters, contradictory points, point of view issues, head-jumping, timeline, but the sole purpose of these rewrites are to create fluidity in sentence, add variety so sections aren’t monotonous, and take some of the work of the client.
Sentence Rewrites does some (more than some) of the work for you.
Firstly, this is an add-on option, meaning it can only be purchased with the addition of a developmental or hybrid editing package.
Generally:
A developmental edit will make suggestions in the comments.
A hybrid edit will make plot suggestions in the comments and most grammar suggestions in-line.
When adding Sentence Rewrites the manuscript is returned with in-line suggestions, insertions, deletions that are ready to be approved and used. These suggestions, only in this option, can be taken word for word if the client chooses.
*In other types of editing, any suggestions used to explain the example and left within comments cannot be used verbatim (as these are not the client’s intellectual property). They are solely for demonstration. However, they may be used for inspiration.
To put it simply, the Sentence Rewrite option at Dr. Plot Twist is not for everyone. It is a combination of editing and very light ghostwriting that is adapted to the author’s voice as much as possible. At times, on occasion, there may be an insertion of a paragraph or two, or modification of dialogue if it is too stiff.
It will not write the book for you. The Sentence Rewrite Option will not write entire chapters or scenes for the client. The developmental edit will normally point them out and attempt to send the client in the right direction, though. In addition, there are other options such as a brainstorming session if the client wants to talk it out, or opting for Chapter/Scene Ghostwriting.
It’s ideal for authors who are non-native English speakers, have translated manuscripts, underdeveloped plotlines, or are suffering from a time constraint. Some of our authors, with heavy release schedules, opt for this option because it cuts time on their editing. Time which is dedicated to other books.
Pre-Requisites. In order to request this option, the editor needs to have worked with the client at least on two books, and the client must be approved for this option prior to commencing the project.
To the time of the editing package, add-on 2 business days for every 10k.
If developmental edit will take 8 business days for 30k, then a with this option it would take 14 business days.
There are not discounts on Sentence Rewrite Option.
