What is a Manuscript Critique?

A critique is a “big picture” feedback of your manuscript. This critique focuses on major strengths and weaknesses of the manuscript. It’s ideal for a client who is not quite ready to commit to editing or needs help analyzing whether or not the message was transmitted. This is not as in-depth as a developmental or hybrid edit and does not look for any kind of grammatical errors. The manuscript rarely has Track Changes or any marks. It’s a great first step in a client and editor relationship. The feedback is sent in an editorial note, often three to six pages (but may be more) with potential steps and/or ways to better the manuscript and author voice.

Turnaround time is usually 3 business days per 10k + 1 day.
