What is Hybrid Editing?

Hybrid Editing is the best of both worlds! It addresses both content and line-by-line edits. It includes:

  • Copy Editing: Corrects aspects such as grammar, punctuation, and spelling. DPT uses CMS for fiction.

  • Developmental Editing: Comprehensive and in-depth analysis of your manuscript, in which voice, sentence structure, dialogue flow, syntax, pacing, character arcs, setting, emotional cues, plot, point of view,  and sequence are analyzed. Often, this type of edit requires rewrites and/or extra attention to certain chapters in order to help focus the overall plot and make those plot twists more impactful

How Many Rounds Do I Need?

Most clients book 2 or 3 rounds of Hybrid Editing. One round of hybrid edits must be pre-approved by DPT, as one round is not recommended unless a special circumstance has been created or the manuscript belongs to a long-time client with experience. New clients need to submit a sample of their work in order for this pre-approval.
