:Hybrid Editing is the best of both worlds! It addresses both content and line by line edits. It includes:
Copy Editing: corrects aspects such as grammar, punctuation, and spelling. DPT uses CMS for fiction.
Developmental Editing: comprehensive and in-depth analysis of your manuscript, in which voice, sentence structure, dialogue flow, syntax, pacing, character arcs, setting, emotional cues, plot, point of view, tense, and sequence are analyzed. Often, this type of edit requires rewrites and/or extra attention to certain chapters in order to help focus the overall plot and make those plot twists more impactful.
Most clients book 2 or 3 rounds of Hybrid Editing. DPT does not recommend one round of hybrid editing unless a special circumstance has been created or the manuscript belongs to a long-time client with experience. Thus, in order to book one round of hybrid edits, DPT must pre-approve this. New clients need to submit a sample of their work in order for this pre-approval.
Two Rounds: Recommended! Two rounds are ideal for the author who is looking to apply overall and specific feedback to chapters, smaller manuscripts, and/or manuscripts that have been or will be beta read by professionals.
Three Rounds: Most Booked! SALE! Recommended for larger books, books with dual timelines, books with multiple point of views or more than two main characters, manuscripts written by more than one author, anthologies/multi-author series, books with detailed magic systems or intricate new worlds, and books which were written over a long period of time without multiple rounds of self-edits and/or plot details. Often, one of these rounds is read aloud in order to test for flow of sentences, rhythm, etc.
Four Rounds: Sometimes there are manuscripts that need a little extra attention. These manuscripts tend to have more than one of the following:
inconsistencies the timeline and/or between scenes
One Round: MUST BE APPROVED! One round can be for the author who is looking for overall feedback on content and on a manuscript that has already gone through a copy or line edit and may still have errors. Other instances where this may be considered:
