I started off my editing journey with non-fiction, working on translated texts, essays, grants, and
scientific articles and theses (plural for thesis, in case you're wondering). Was it for me? Yes, I still work on these from time to time
(and find them quite refreshing), but being part of an author's creative journey is, for lack of a better word, epic.
Why epic, you may ask? Don't worry, I'm not about to burst into a long narrative poem about some ancient hero,
though I have worked on something like that before. I'm simply going to state the Top 10 reasons why I know I can help authors.

1. I'm attentive to details.
Shh... I may or may not be in the Perfectionist Annonymous Club.

2. I care for every piece of work that comes across my desk and for the person who puts it there.
Me, a 100% Believer in the Good Human Philosophy.

3. I'm an avid reader and learner.
That's a nice way of saying I like to take classes and rock my nerd glasses.
In other words, I know a little about a lot of things.

4. I pick up on an author's voice and do my best to preserve it.
Editing is never about silencing the uniqueness of a voice but enhancing it.

5. I often read the books I'm working on aloud.
Neat trick to test for rhythm and punctuatuion. Feel free to try it.

6. I often take a "teaching-style" editing approach.
For me, it's not just about telling. It's about showing.

7. I'm a polyglot.
US Native Speaker, Portuguese, French, Spanish, and Italian.

8. I LOVE villains.
Let me explain: there's always an opposing force and that force helps drive the book forward.

9. I adapt to each client's needs and have experience with multiple genres.
From young adult fantasy to pscyhological thrillers, to romance for various ages.

10. I can honestly say I love what I do, and yes, that makes a difference.
I find joy in being part of clients' teams, of showing up for them, and being right there on
the field cheering on their progress.

There are probably other reasons, more appropriate ones that show the nitty-gritty of what I can do for your manuscripts and creative process, but for that there is information found in Services and Samples.
This page's intention is to show you a little of me, as an editor and a human, because I truly believe
picking an editor is like picking the perfect black dress, or tie, or notebook.
You want one that goes with your style, meshes with you as a person,
works for every occasion and boosts you up.
In short, I can be that dress.
Or tie.
Or notebook.
